They are cookies designed to look like the triangular hat that the villain of the Purim story, <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Haman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer noopener noreferrer\">Haman<\/a>, wore.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hamantaschen dough is really easy to make and requires no refrigeration time! The filling options for Hamantaschen are endless &#8211; from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cupcakeproject.com\/lemon-poppy-seed-sandwich-cookies\/\">poppy seed filling<\/a> to all kinds of jams, chocolate, and more. She got the recipe from the 1955 Peekskill Cookbook (I presume that it was a fundraising cookbook for some organization in her town). The hamantaschen recipe was submitted to the cookbook by Dora Levin. This helps keep the dough from sticking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-light-pink-background-color has-background\"><strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-red-color\">Tip:<\/mark><\/strong> You can use the same dough to make more cakey hamantaschen by rolling to 1\/4&#8243; thick instead of 1\/8&#8243; thick.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Cut the dough into circles<\/strong> any size that you like. You can use cookie cutters or the rim of a glass. Moral (and this should apply in all areas of life): <strong>Do not pinch!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So&#8230; how do you shape hamantaschen?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The trick to keeping hamantaschen closed is to fold<\/strong>! Fold down one third of the circle covering a portion of the filling. Then, fold the next third down, overlapping the first third. Finally, fold down the last third to create your triangle.
