Also check that both the butter and cream cheese are at room temperature; don’t try to melt it or whip it when it’s still too cold.
You shouldn’t need to use too much sugar and you should be able to enjoy delicious, cream cheese frosting on anything! Good Luck! :)

Last time I used that much for icing, it turned out really, really, sweet. Too sweet.
I’ve been seeing 3-4 cups of icing sugar on a lot of frosting recipes lately but I just can’t get my head around it. Why so much icing sugar?!?!
