I hate the food coloring in red velvet. I don’t know how we got from the traditional cake to the modern monstrosity. I’ve had red wine cupcakes before and they were awesome. The had a chocolate glaze but I think the cream cheese frosting sounds awesome too!

Will try these in the near future. In Germany we make a Rotwein Kuchen (Redwine Cake) and it contains similar ingredients with the addition of almond flour and chocolate pieces.
