While the recipe uses standard baking ingredients, the secret to making these amazing peanut butter cupcakes is to use a lot of peanut butter in the batter and frosting. The same is true for peanut butter cookies or even dog treats. The more peanut butter you can put into your recipe, the more your PB lovers will appreciate them.

As you might imagine, it goes really well on peanut butter cupcakes, chocolate cupcakes and vanilla cupcakes. But, the combination of this peanut butter frosting and my banana cupcakes may be my favorite peanut butter pairing.

When I developed the recipe, I worried that the banana might throw off the frosting texture. But, it didn’t take too much banana to impart enough banana flavor and the texture was spot on. It’s perfectly pipeable!

I also love using this cookie dough as you would ice cream – with sprinkles and toppings galore.
